Lessons in meteorology at the Wasserkuppe

Has anybody the faintest idea where I have left my glider?“ a student of the 7th DHV-Groundhandling seminar is straying on the meadows of the Wasserkuppe. Is he shortsighted? Is he confused? No, it is really not his mistake. The reason are the weatherconditions this weekend.

It is absolutely foggy. You cannot recognize your own hand in front of your eyes. But in contrast to Saturday there is no rain on Sunday.

The weather is never bad. The weather is instructive!“ this is one of Mike Küng’s pilot’s wisdoms. And indeed this weekend is very instructive. The undaunted students get the latest findings about tendency to spin and deep stall limits of their paragliders.

There is a lot of fun with the Somersault Competition. Inflate the glider, make some fast steps, take off and then roll backward and finally forward. Especially forward is very insidious. Winner of the competition is Norman Lausch, member of the German National Paragliding Team. He came directly from the korean somersault camp. And after his return from the European Championships in Greece he will show his new tricks to Gin Seok..

This time there is not only the obligatory sore muscles inclusive, but also a fresh washed paraglider. Respect to the effort of all course members, playing with their gliders in this really bad weather conditions.

Next time there is a video online. A short version on www.dhv.de, a longer version here on www.madmikekueng.com . Until then have fun with the pictures! Thanks to ADOBE Photoshop, now it seems to be a sunny weekend... ;o)
