Some people are not flying, they are ballooning...

That was quite an event, the 4th Tegernsee Valley Montgolfiade. And of course Mike Küng took great pride in taking part for the fourth time. The sky above Tegernsee Valley was dotted with 30 balloons from all over Europe. On Saturday, Mike Küng was hanging from one of the baskets. Cameraman Alex Kaiser was strapped to the balloon envelope to be able to film the whole affair.

Hanging loose

It took just a few minutes to get the balloon and its strange passengers positioned above the Tegernsee shore. There is absolute silence when you jump from a balloon and you feel like meditating. Jumping from a helicopter means all rush and noise and wind, but balloon jumps are quite different, all peace and quiet. The only noise you might hear is the hissing sound of the burner.

High in the sky

When they had reached an altitude of 1.000 m, Mike ignited a smoke cartridge and jumped. Within fractions of a second the glider was completely open and Mike performed his spectacular show above the enthusiastic spectators. At high speed Mike used the orange smoke to draw his dynamic arco manoeuvres onto the bright blue sky. To finish his show, Mike landed right in front of the spectators.
